Because no one else will

“Most people won’t. Which means those that do change everything.”

– Bryce Roberts

As I type this, I’m sitting in our company office, sipping a Starbucks and working away on a Saturday afternoon. While some people might feel sorry for me that I’m doing work on a Saturday, believe me when I say you don’t need to feel sorry – I chose to be here and I’m incredibly happy to be here.

While I was in line for coffee today, I caught myself thinking: why are we doing this? Why are the 5 of us at Seamless Mobile Health trying to do something as crazy as disrupt the archaic, immalleable health care system? Why do we keep banging our heads against the wall, ignoring the skeptics, and convincing ourselves that we can do this?

And then it came to me:

Because no one else will.

And it’s precisely because of this that our mission is so incredibly important.

I’m not saying that surgical care won’t be transformed with mobile technology unless we do it. Of course it will – it’s inevitable.

But it won’t happen soon enough.

We are confident that our solution will improve outcomes for patients and save money for the health care system. Many people much smarter than us in health care and other industries believe this will work.

If we are right, then the faster we prove this works, the faster we could actually save a life. So does that mean we have a moral imperative to make this work as fast as possible? It’s an interesting thought.
